January 26, 2007, Newsletter Issue #24: Finding Useful Books on the Subject of Autism

Tip of the Week

Perusing your local bookstore is not necessarily the best place to find informative books related to the subject of autism. Bookstores are geared to appeal to the masses and although the instances of autism appear to be growing at a rapid rate, there are currently approximately 210,000 individuals between the ages of 3 and 22 in the United States who are autistic. Even though that may be an astounding number it is still a relatively small percentage of the general public. For that reason local bookstores are not likely to have an extensive collection of books on autism. To enhance your autism research, ask your doctor or specialist for book recommendations and search for these titles through specialized online book sellers. Medical professionals can point you in the direction of books that are informative and accurate.
